L-surF, which stands for Large Scale Underground Research Facility, is a European Union funded feasibility study on safety and security of enclosed underground spaces.

L-surF is a joint initiative by some of Europe’s leading institutions on safety and security of underground spaces. In due time, L-surF will bundle the strengths of the initiating partners, providing a full range of services, which besides full scale testing includes training and education and also act as integrating nucleus for pan European activities on safety and security in underground spaces.
